Larry  Potter, Handmade Pottery
"Dragon Bones" was a title I had considered for this site.  I was amazed to learn that "clay is not mud".  It is the product of millions of years of erosion, and made of the same stuff as the granite mountains it comes from, quartz, mica, and feldspar.   In its simplest form, ceramic art, from antiquity to now, is the reformation of "stone", by using water, fire, and air to remold this magical material into myriad shapes, sizes, colors and textures of our choosing.
Many of our popular myths, books and movies describe dragons as being made of the "bones of the earth", almost indestructible, fireproof, and yet,  flying though the air, with the grace and power of eagles.  As I have studied pottery and ceramic art over the past several years, I have come to realize how integral it is in our lives.  Today, as much as in ancient China and Greece, humans love to make, use, collect, and cherish items made from "the stuff of Dragons".

I hope you enjoy the analogy as much as I do.
